(english below) Nirlik attendait l'appel de Saïla : sa jumelle n'allait pas oublier de l'appeler le jour de leur anniversaire, et quand le téléphone a vibré, elle s'est dépêchée de répondre en s'asseyant à la table avec un café.

Ne vous inquiétez pas pour le nombre de cafés que boit Nirlik chaque jour : elle et Nilaq aiment le café décaféiné très peu fort. En fait, elle met deux fois moins de café dans le filtre qu'il n'en faut normalement, et ils aiment leur café comme ça. Vous comprenez ainsi pourquoi Jessica et son mari leur ont offert une cafetière expresso à Noël, car eux, ils aiment le café fort !

La voix de Saïla se met à chanter dans le téléphone :

- Joyeux anniversaire, joyeux anniversaire, tralala la lalaire !!

- Joyeux anniversaire à toi aussi frangine ! Dis donc, tu es sur ton 36, toi !

(NB : au Québec, on ne dit pas être sur son 31, mais être sur son 36)

- Oui, je reçois Marine et Ludovic ce soir. J'ai déjà tout préparé, je n'aurai rien à faire de la soirée. Et imagine-toi que j'ai eu un super cadeau d'anniversaire : j'ai fait pour la première fois une mayonnaise debout sur mes deux jambes. (voir ICI)

- C'est merveilleux ! C'est comme un cadeau pour moi aussi que tu me racontes ça. C'est.... merveilleux ! Je ne trouve pas d'autre mot, répond Nirlik d'une voix un peu éraillée par l'émotion et la joie.

- En fait, je suis aussi émue que toi, et c'est bizarre, parce que j'en parle normalement avec Yvonnick, avec Nathan, avec mon amie Marine, mais avec toi, je suis comme toi, j'ai la boule dans la gorge en t'en parlant. On a tellement rêvé de ça quand on était petites, et tu vois, ça arrive.

Nirlik attrape un mouchoir dans sa poche et s'essuie les yeux.

- Bon ça va, remets-toi frangine. Allez, on change de sujet : vous faites quoi ce soir ? questionne Saïla.

- On m'a interdit de cuisiner aujourd'hui, j'ai ordre de m'amuser et me reposer. Nous allons au restaurant avec les cousins et les amis, Belle et Ethan, Jessica et David, Joseph et Calixe, Sébastien. On avait aussi invité Emeline et Georges, mais Émeline a dit qu'elle préférait garder les bébés Annelle et Malo, pour qu'on soit tranquilles au restaurant ; je crois qu'en fait, c'est Georges qui ne voulait pas sortir, sans doute gêné qu'on l'invite.

- Il ne vous connait pas encore celui-là ! Mais ça va venir, il va vite découvrir que quand on travaille dans votre ferme, on rentre presque dans une famille !! s'esclaffe Saïla

- Finalement, tu sais ce que tu vas avoir comme cadeau ? s'enquiert Nirlik.

- Toujours aucune idée, le secret a été bien gardé, et c'est infernal de n'avoir rien pu savoir ! J'ai eu beau essayer de piéger Yvonnick autant que Nathan, ça a été en pure perte, ni l'un ni l'autre n'a lâché une bribe d'information !! Aucun indice, c'est horrible ! 

- Pour moi, il parait que je vais avoir une petite surprise en fin d'après-midi, je me demande ce que ça sera, surement un cadeau de la part des cousins. Mais il y a un truc bizarre : Asiavik et Ukpik viennent de m'annoncer, il y a 10 minutes de ça, qu'ils avaient "oublié" qu'il leur fallait absolument un cahier neuf spécialement pour lundi, pour une sortie scolaire, et bien sûr, qu'on ne trouvait ce cahier qu'à Walmart à Sherbrooke. Et Nilaq, qui était là, a dit que je n'avais pas le choix, il fallait que je les y emmène demain matin..... Je trouve qu'il y a anguille sous roche, et je crois qu'ils ont comploté et que Nilaq a prévu une surprise que je vais trouver en rentrant demain de Walmart. 

- Waouh........ je suis impatiente de savoir ce qu'est la "petite surprise" de tout à l'heure, et la raison pour laquelle tu devras être absente de la maison demain matin !!! Comment peux-tu rester aussi calme avec tout ça ?!!! s'écrie Saïla en riant.

- J'entends les cousins qui arrivent, je te laisse. Passe une belle soirée d'anniversaire. À demain, je te raconterai tout !!

- Gros bisous, passe une bonne soirée toi aussi ; à demain !
