(english below) J'ai eu plusieurs fois des demandes de précisions sur la vie de Rose, ou des questions posées sur un détail qu'elle mentionne parfois dans son journal intime.
Voici donc toute l'histoire de Rose, qui a 21 ans en 1870.

Premièrement, sa mère est morte en donnant naissance à sa jeune sœur Liliane, il y a 15 ans. Son père ne s'est pas remarié, il travaillait avec Mr McGill ( le maire actuel), et leur affaire de "scierie + construction de maison" était prospère ; il s'occupait des maisons, et Mr McGill s'occupait de la scierie.

En 1868, Rose a épousé un jeune médecin qui était venu s'installer dans le village ; elle était enceinte durant l'hiver qui a suivi. Le jeune couple vivait dans la grande maison du père de Rose en attendant que l'appartement au dessus du cabinet médical soit rénové.

Cet hiver là fut marqué par de nombreuses chutes de neige et violents blizzards. Un soir, quelqu'un a fait appel au médecin pour une urgence ; ne voulant pas le laisser partir seul dans son phaéton dans la tourmente de neige, le père de Rose l'a accompagné avec son coupé.
Ne les voyant pas revenir le lendemain, Rose a commencé à s'inquiéter ; elle a envoyé du monde à leur recherche. 
Le coupé a été retrouvé enlisé dans la boue gelée, à des kilomètres de leur point de destination chez le malade, avec un seul cheval. Il semble qu'ils s'étaient égarés dans le blizzard et n'avaient pas trouvé, ni retrouvé, leur route. 
Le coupé contenait le corps du père de Rose, mort de froid ; mais il n'y avait pas le corps du mari de Rose, et tout le monde a supposé qu'il était parti à cheval pour chercher de l'aide lorsqu'il a vu que son beau-père était mort. Son corps n'ayant jamais été retrouvé, Rose est absolument persuadée qu'il est quelque part, toujours vivant, et qu'ils se retrouveront un jour. Bien que tout le monde lui dise qu'il a sûrement trouvé la mort dans le froid, et que les loups l'ont emporté, elle refuse l'idée d'être veuve, et l'attend patiemment.

Depuis, elle a repris son poste de maîtresse d'école, s'occupe de son bébé, de son frère de 17 ans et de sa sœur de 15 ans, dans la grande et jolie maison bleue du père de Rose.

Au début, à cause de son père décédé, Rose a eu des difficultés financières ; comme une jeune femme nouvellement arrivée au village cherchait une location pour ouvrir un atelier de couturière, elle lui a proposé de lui louer une chambre et le petit salon, en contre partie de quoi elle devait s'occuper du bébé pendant les heures où Rose est à l'école ; c'était Joséphine, 22 ans, qui est vite devenue son amie.

Ensuite, Adrienne, une jeune noire de 20 ans, esclave en fuite venant des États Unis, est arrivée au village où elle a travaillé dans magasin général de Nils et Erika (lointain grand oncle par alliance de Rose), et elle a également loué une chambre chez Rose. La douceur et la gentillesse d'Adrienne lui ont attiré l'amitié de Rose et de Joséphine. Les 3 amies s'entendent à merveille et s'entraident. Par la suite, Adrienne a perdu son emploi au magasin général car certaines personnes du village ne veulent pas être servies par une noire ; Rose décide alors de la prendre à plein temps comme employée car elle a du mal à s'occuper de la maison et de son bébé, ainsi que son frère et sa soeur, en plus de son métier de maîtresse d'école. 
En même temps, Adrienne apprend le métier de couturière auprès de Joséphine.

Arrive ensuite l'adoption de la toute jeune cousine Jane, devenue orpheline en Nouvelle-Zélande, dont la venue apporte de la joie dans la maison, mais également un meilleur niveau de vie grâce à la très généreuse pension qui est payée à Rose, selon le testament et les dernières volontés des parents de Jane.

Ajoutez les voisins de la ferme Andersen, parents et enfants ; ajoutez également la famille McGill, parents et enfants. Vous connaissez ainsi l'histoire et les personnages principaux qu'on trouve dans le journal intime de Rose. 

Pour conclure, il faut savoir que toute l'histoire commence en mars 2019, quand Marianne (descendante de Rose) a trouvé au grenier les 3 volumes du journal intime et une boite de vieilles photos, et qu'elle les a apportés à sa cousine Belle.

Il y a 3 années de journal intime, ça fait beaucoup de scènes en 1870-71-72 , et aussi celles qui se passent de nos jours chez Belle, en parallèle, en rappel, ou en croisé avec le journal intime de son ancêtre.
Et surtout, il y a la fin du journal intime, que je ne dévoilerai pas avant.... la fin !
