Cet après-midi, aucun photographe n'est sorti, repos pour tout le monde, pour la raison toute simple qu'autant le parc national, que les routes de tout le Québec, étaient impraticables en raison du nombre de véhicules qui les sillonnaient pour "voir les couleurs" comme on dit ici (pardon, icitte !). Et comme chacun le sait, les photographes préfèrent la tranquillité pour exercer leur art, plutôt que l'agitation générale autour d'eux.

Mais Shannen et Kyle ont décidé d'aller se balader tous les deux, Kyle ayant repéré des petites routes très tranquilles lorsqu'il a accompagné à quelques reprises certains des baroudeurs pour les filmer dans leurs activités.

Ils sont montés dans la Jeep de Kyle et sont passés chez Starbuck pour récupérer deux lattés glacés, avant de prendre la direction du chemin Taylor que le jeune homme voulait faire découvrir à son amoureuse....

.....ce qui leur a permis de faire une rencontre qui a rendu Wash vert de jalousie !.... mais je vais y venir plus loin.

Kyle avait emprunté un appareil photo à un des baroudeurs et voici les prises qu'il a faites en cours de route.

La vue depuis le chemin Shuttleworth. Vous constaterez que la sécheresse est vraiment intense parce qu'habituellement, ces prairies sont bien vertes à cette époque de l'année.

Chemin faisant, ils sont passés à côté d'une belle vieille grange :

Et c'est là qu'ils les ont vues. Quatre jolies grues du Canada (Antigone Canadensis) qui se promenaient dans un champ, cherchant visiblement un endroit tranquille pour faire une première halte migratoire.

Faisant marche arrière avec la voiture, ils les ont retrouvées un peu plus loin, avant qu'elles ne se sauvent derrière les taillis. Malheureusement elles étaient bien trop loin d'eux pour que la photo (fortement recadrée) soit excellente.

Puis ils ont atteint le chemin où Kyle voulait aller se balader. 

 C'est là qu'ils ont garé la voiture.

Ils sont allés marcher en se tenant par la main, comme tous les amoureux du monde, mais en n'oubliant pas de siroter leur latté glacé de l'autre main !

Mais avant tout, posant l'appareil photo sur une souche, avec le retardateur à 10 secondes, ils se sont photographiés ensemble pour conserver un souvenir de cette journée.

Toutes les bonnes choses ont une fin, et ils sont finalement repartis en sens inverse. 

Ce soir, Wash était dépité en découvrant qu'ils avaient vu les grues, car ces animaux sont rares au Québec puisqu'ils ne nichent qu'au nord, et notre photographe-ornithologue aurait donné cher pour avoir été là !

This afternoon, no photographers went out, a rest for everyone, for the simple reason that both the national park and the roads throughout Quebec were impassable due to the number of vehicles crisscrossing them to "see the colors," as they say here. And as everyone knows, photographers prefer peace and quiet to practice their art, rather than the general hustle and bustle around them.

But Shannen and Kyle decided to go for a walk together, Kyle having spotted some very quiet back roads when he accompanied some of the backpackers a few times to film them in their activities.
They climbed into Kyle's Jeep and stopped at Starbucks to pick up two iced lattes, before heading towards Taylor Road, which the young man wanted to show his girlfriend....

.....which allowed them to have an encounter that made Wash green with jealousy!....but I'll get to that later.

Kyle had borrowed a camera from one of the backpackers, and here are the shots he took along the way.

Along the way, they passed by a beautiful old barn.

And that's when they saw them. Four pretty sandhill cranes (Antigone canadensis) wandering through a field, clearly looking for a quiet spot for their first migratory stopover.
Backing up the car, they found them a little further on, before they disappeared behind the thickets. Unfortunately, they were much too far away from them for the (heavily cropped) photo to be excellent.

Then they reached the path where Kyle wanted to go for a walk. 
That's where they parked the car.
They went for a walk holding hands, like all lovers do, but they didn't forget to sip their iced lattes with the other hand!
First, setting the camera on a stump and setting the timer to 10 seconds, they took a picture together to preserve a souvenir of the day.

All good things must come to an end, and they finally headed back the other way.

This evening, Wash was disappointed to discover they had seen the cranes, as these animals are rare in Quebec since they only nest in the north, and our bird photographer would have given anything to have been there!
