Lundi soir, Nabil est retourné chez sa sœur. Salma lui a raconté sa conversation avec Guylaine au sujet de Jasmine (ICI). Elle lui a expliqué à quel point il avait blessé la jeune femme en la demandant en mariage d'une manière qui témoignait de si peu de d'égards pour des sentiments. Prenant conscience de sa maladresse, Nabil a réalisé à quel point sa demande avait manqué de délicatesse et a mieux compris pourquoi Jasmine l'avait éconduit.

Espérant qu'elle répondrait, il lui envoya aussitôt un message pour lui dire qu'il devait lui parler "de toute urgence". À son grand soulagement, Jasmine répondit qu'elle serait à l'université toute la journée du lendemain et accepta de le voir en fin d'après-midi quand elle serait rentrée chez sa mère.

On Monday evening, Nabil went back to his sister's place. Salma told him about her conversation with Guylaine regarding Jasmine (ICI). She explained just how much he had hurt the young woman by proposing in a way that showed so little regard for her feelings. Recognizing his clumsiness, Nabil realized how tactless his proposal had been and better understood why Jasmine had turned him down.

Hoping for a reply, he immediately sent her a message saying he needed to speak with her "urgently." To his great relief, Jasmine replied that she would be at the university all day the following day and agreed to see him at the end of the afternoon, when she returned to her mother's house..

- Alors, que voulais-tu me dire de si urgent ? demanda-t-elle aussitôt.

- Bébé, je voulais te dire que je suis stupide et...

"So, what was it you wanted to tell me that was so urgent?" she asked right away.
"Baby, I wanted to tell you that I'm stupid and..."

- Oh, si ce n'est que ça, pas la peine de me faire venir jusqu'ici, je l'avais déjà compris ! Et ne m'appelle plus 'bébé" : le bébé, il est dans mon ventre.

"Oh, if that's all it is, there was no need to make me come all the way here, I'd already figured that out! And stop calling me "baby" : the baby is in my belly."

- Attends.... Je voulais te dire que je t'ai raconté n'importe quoi, j'ai merdé, comme d'habitude.

"Wait... I wanted to tell you that I was talking nonsense; I messed up, like usual."

- Ah bon ?! Tu m'as demandé en mariage par erreur, si je comprends bien... 

"Oh really?! So, if I understand correctly, you proposed by mistake..."

Nabil est décontenancé.

- Mais.... non ! C'est juste que j'ai raconté n'importe quoi.

Nabil is taken aback.
"Of course not! It's just that I was spouting nonsense."

 - N'Importe quoi ??????!

- Oui !

- Et n'importe quoi "quoi" ?

- Je.... enfin... je n'ai pas l'habitude de dire quand j'aime quelqu'un, alors voilà...

- Voilà quoi ? 

- Ben voilà... Je voudrais me marier avec toi... euh, non, je voudrais qu'on se marie tous les deux.

- Là, ça serait plutôt tous les trois ! Mais pourquoi le veux tu autant ?

- Parce que je t'aime bébé...

- Nonsense??????!
- Yes!
"And what *kind* of nonsense?"
"I... well... I'm not used to saying when I love someone, so... there you go."
"There you go, what?"
"Well... I want to marry you... uh, no, I want *both* to get married."
"In that case, it would be the three of us! But why do you want it so much?"
"Because I love you, baby.."

Il l'a dit !!! Jasmine jubile : il a avoué ! Mais elle ne compte pas lui faciliter la tâche ; elle veut qu'il retienne la leçon et apprenne à s'ouvrir et à partager ses sentiments, plutôt que de les dissimuler derrière des sous-entendus parfois difficiles à décrypter. Alors, elle détourne le regard (ce qui lui permet aussi de cacher le léger sourire qu'elle a du mal à réprimer).

- Mouai... 

He said it!!! Jasmine is overjoyed—he admitted it! But she doesn't intend to make it easy for him; she wants him to learn his lesson and figure out how to open up and share his feelings instead of hiding them behind innuendos that are sometimes hard to decipher. So, she turns her head away (which also allows her to hide the slight smile she’s struggling to suppress).
"Yeah, right..."

Emporté par son désir de la convaincre, Nabil baisse sa garde et se lâche.

- Je te le jure bébé, écoute moi, s'il te plait.

Jasmine le regarde.

- .............. Je n'ai jamais aimé aucune fille comme je t'aime toi. 

Swept up in his desire to convince her, Nabil lets his guard down.
"I swear, baby, please, just listen to me."

Jasmine looks at him.
" .............. I’ve never loved any girl the way I love you."

Jasmine ne semble pas réagir, elle détourne à nouveau la tête comme si elle réfléchissait profondément.

Jasmine doesn't seem to react; she turns her head away again, as if deep in thought.

Nabil, parti sur sa lancée, ne sait plus quoi dire pour la convaincre.

- Bébé, je t'aime, et je veux qu'on se marie, pour être un couple, et avoir ce bébé à nous deux.

Nabil, on a roll, runs out of things to say to convince her.
"Baby, I love you, and I want us to get married—to be a couple and have this baby of our own."

....Et s'il faut que je te le demande à genoux, comme ils font dans les films, je vais le faire aussi.

Il se lève. 

"...And if I have to ask you on bended knee, like they do in the movies, I’ll do that too."
He stands up.

Et s'agenouille.

- Bébé, s'il te plait, je t'aime, veux tu bien te marier avec moi ? 

And kneels down.
"Baby, please... I love you. Will you marry me?"

- Je te promets de faire tout ce que je pourrai pour être un bon père et un bon mari. Il faudra que tu m'aides si je dérape parfois, mais je te jure que je ferai tout pour que vous soyez bien tous les deux.

"I promise to do everything I can to be a good father and a good husband. You’ll have to help me if I slip up sometimes, but I swear I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure both of you are happy and well-cared-for."

Jasmine le regarde sans rien dire, elle est trop émue de voir son "homme des bois" se transformer en nounours tendre rien que pour elle.

Jasmine looks at him without saying a word; she is too moved to see her "woodsman" turning into a tender teddy bear—just for her.

Puis elle lui tend les bras.

Then she holds out her arms to him.

- Oui mon gros nounours, cette fois, je te dis oui !

"Yes, my teddy bear... this time, I’m saying yes."
