Yumi et Ethan étaient assis au bord de la rivière, sirotant leurs lattes glacés. Elle demanda à Ethan comment allait Tamsir, car personne n'avait eu de ses nouvelles depuis la soirée barbecue où lui et Salma avaient disparu.

"Il a l'air d'aller plutôt bien ; il était assez renfermé pendant quelques jours après le barbecue, mais maintenant il siffle comme un oiseau quand il est seul et semble de bonne humeur. Et Salma, comment va-t-elle ?".

"Je sais qu'il l'a appelée longuement plusieurs fois, et à chaque fois, elle semble aller un peu mieux. Elle passe toujours du temps seule dans sa chambre, mais elle nous parle beaucoup plus, et elle a même proposé avant-hier de faire la vaisselle à son tour, comme nous tous".

"À mon avis, Tamsir est en grande partie responsable. Il a ce don de communiquer avec les gens : il sait exactement quoi dire quand ils ne vont pas bien, je le sais par expérience, n'est-ce pas ! (revoir ICI). Cependant, quand j'ai vu comment il la regardait le soir du barbecue, j'ai supposé qu'il tenait à elle bien plus qu'on ne l'imagine. Son regard n'était pas juste celui de quelqu'un qui s'inquiète pour une simple relation". 

"Oui, on pense qu'il avait un petit faible pour elle, et d'après Shannen, c'était réciproque (revoir ICI), mais ça s'est mal terminé entre eux, sans qu'on sache pourquoi", précise Yuni.

Ethan resta silencieux un instant, puis ajouta : "J'espère qu'elle se rendra compte que c'est un type formidable, généreux et sensible, et qu'elle ne lui tournera pas le dos quand elle ira mieux"

Puis il ajouta en riant : 

"Mais si ça finit par marcher entre eux, il va falloir que je trouve une autre colocation !".

"Ne t'en fais pas, tu ne serais pas à la rue, tu n'aurais qu'à venir t'installer avec moi au chalet".

À ces mots, Ethan resta sans voix, abasourdi par cette proposition et par le sérieux qu'elle sous-entendait dans leur relation.

Yumi and Ethan were sitting by the river, sipping their iced lattes. She asked Ethan how Tamsir was doing, since no one had heard from him since the barbecue party where he and Salma had disappeared.
"He seems to be doing pretty well; he was quite withdrawn for a few days after the barbecue, but now he whistles like a bird when he's alone and seems to be in a good mood. And how is Salma?"
"I know he called her at length several times, and each time she seems a little better. She still spends time alone in her room, but she talks to us much more, and she even offered the day before yesterday to do the dishes, like the rest of us."
"In my opinion, Tamsir is largely responsible. He has this gift for connecting with people: he knows just what to say when they're down, I know that from experience, don't you? (see HERE). However, when I saw the way he looked at her the night of the barbecue, I assumed he cared for her much more than we imagined. His gaze wasn't just that of someone worried about a simple relationship."
"Yes, we think he had a bit of a crush on her, and according to Shannen, it was mutual (see HERE), but it ended badly between them, without us knowing why," Yuni explains.
Ethan remained silent for a moment, then added, "I hope she realizes he's a wonderful, generous, and sensitive guy, and that she won't turn her back on him when she's feeling better."
Then he added, laughing,
"But if things end up working out between them, I'll have to find another roommate!"
"Don't worry, you wouldn't be homeless; you could just come and live with me at the cabin."
At these words, Ethan was speechless, stunned by the suggestion and the seriousness it implied in their relationship.
