Cet après-midi, au chalet, les baroudeurs attendaient avec impatience le retour d'Aslan. Celui-ci avait rendez-vous avec l'auteur d'une petite annonce qui allait peut-être bien lui faire réaliser un rêve qu'il caresse depuis son adolescence.

Les membres du groupe étaient presque aussi fébriles qu'Aslan lui-même, tellement ce dernier leur avait rabâché les oreilles de "la merveille" qu'il allait peut-être acquérir si tout se passait bien : une Harley-Davidson Fat boy de 1999.

En attendant, Franck rangeait les provisions que Shannen avait rapportées de Magog, tout en tendant l'oreille pour entendre Wash raconter une anecdote amusante sur le comportement des oiseaux.

Sur la droite, Yumi expliquait à Oona et Nabil ce qu'elle comptait prendre comme photos de rues durant l'hiver.

Mais tout cela semblait futile, juste comme s'ils meublaient le temps en parlant de tout et de rien dans cette atmosphère d'impatience qui s'amplifiait de minutes en minutes. 

Lorsque Aslan est enfin revenu, Tina s'est précipitée vers lui.

"Alors ?".

"Alors, c'est fait ! Elle est parfaite, le contrôle technique est OK, et le vendeur a accepté le prix que je lui proposais. Je la récupère vendredi après-midi".

Tina lui a sauté au cou.

"Je suis si heureuse pour toi !".

"Tu peux l'être pour toi aussi, car tu vas en profiter autant que moi quand nous reprendrons nos tournées au printemps".

"C'est sur, mais c'est quand même toi qui réalise ton rêve, et je suis vraiment très heureuse pour toi que tu aies pu le faire".

À ce moment-là, Aslan se tourne vers ses camarades.

"Bon, les potes, je connais la chanson : vous allez me dire que ça s'arrose ! Alors je vous invite tous au resto !".

Les baroudeurs se sont regardés et ont déclaré qu'ils partageraient la note du restaurant et que Aslan aura juste les apéritifs à sa charge. Même si ce dernier a protesté, ils lui ont dit que c'était ça, ou bien ils restaient là.

Ils ont passé une bonne et joyeuse soirée au restaurant, le plaisir de l'un rejaillissant sur tous les autres.

Espérons que cette bonne entente de camaraderie solidaire résistera au long hiver canadien qui les tiendra souvent enfermés dans le chalet durant les périodes de mauvaise météo.

This afternoon at the cabin, the group eagerly awaited Aslan's return. He had an appointment with the person who had placed a classified ad that might just make his dream come true.
The group members were almost as excited as Aslan himself, having gone on and on about the "wonderful" motorcycle he might acquire if all went well: a 1999 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.

Meanwhile, Franck was putting away the supplies Shannen had brought back from Magog, all the while listening to Wash tell an amusing anecdote about bird behavior.
To the right, Yumi was explaining to Oona and Nabil what she planned to photograph in the streets during the winter.
But all of this seemed pointless, just like they were filling the time chatting about this and that in this atmosphere of impatience that grew stronger by the minute.

When Aslan finally returned, Tina rushed towards him.
"Well?"
"Well, it's done! It's perfect, the vehicle inspection is OK, and the seller accepted the price I offered. I'm picking it up Friday afternoon."
Tina threw her arms around his neck.
"I'm so happy for you!"
"You should be happy for yourself too, because you'll enjoy it as much as I do when we resume our tours in the spring."
"That's for sure, but you're still the one fulfilling your dream, and I'm really very happy for you that you were able to do it."

At that moment, Aslan turned to his friends.
"Okay, guys, I know the drill: you're going to tell me we need a drink to celebrate my motorcycle! So I'm treating you all to dinner!"

The adventurers looked at each other and decided they would split the bill and that Aslan would just pay for the drinks. Even though he protested, they told him it was that, or they were staying put.
They had a great and fun evening at the restaurant, the enjoyment of one rubbing off on everyone else.

Let's hope this strong bond of camaraderie and solidarity will withstand the long Canadian winter that will often keep them indoors during periods of bad weather.
