La nuit était presque tombée quand les baroudeuses ont quitté l'association "des Mots et des Mailles". Guylaine leur a proposé de les ramener au chalet dans sa voiture.

Pour la remercier, les filles lui ont offert de venir goûter le faux gin-fizz sans alcool dont la mère de Kyle leur a donné la recette, ce qu'elle a accepté avec beaucoup d'empressement.

Dans le chalet se trouvent seulement Kyle, qui joue sur son ordinateur, et Aslan, qui lit un livre sur la technique photo.

"Vos autres camarades ne sont pas encore rentrés ? Ils travaillent bien tard", s'enquit Guylaine.

"Il manque juste Wash et Nabil qui sont allés au cinéma à Magog pour voir Frankenstein", explique Kyle. 

"Aucun d'entre nous autres n'avions envie d'aller voir ce film !", rajoute Shannen.

"C'est bête qu'ils soient déjà partis si vous vouliez voir Wash", déclare Oona avec son franc-parler peu diplomatique habituel.

Essayant de retenir un sourire taquin, Aslan dit qu'ils ne sont partis que depuis cinq minutes, et il propose que Shannen les appelle pour qu'ils reviennent au chalet si Guylaine a quelque chose à dire à Wash.

Guylaine pique un fard magistral qui la rend rouge comme une tomate, et s'enlise dans des dénégations.

"Non non non, absolument pas ! Non non ! Je demandais juste ça comme ça, pour savoir... ou plutôt pour parler... enfin, par politesse... enfin, vous voyez, juste pour dire quelque chose"...

Voyant sa gêne, les baroudeurs ont eu pitié d'elle et n'ont pas insisté, lui proposant de s'asseoir pendant que Shannen et Yumi préparaient l'apéritif sans alcool promis !

Night had almost fallen when the adventurers left the "Words and Mails" association. Guylaine offered to drive them back to the chalet in her car.
To thank her, the girls invited her to come and taste the mock non-alcoholic gin fizz Kyle's mother had given them the recipe for, which she eagerly accepted.

In the chalet, only Kyle, playing on his computer, and Aslan, reading a book on photography techniques, were there.

"Your other friends aren't home yet? They're working really late," Guylaine asked.
"The only people missing are Wash and Nabil, who went to the cinema in Magog to see Frankenstein," Kyle explained.
"None of us wanted to go see that movie!" Shannen adds.
"It's a shame they're already gone if you wanted to see Wash," Oona says with her usual undiplomatic bluntness.

Trying to suppress a teasing smile, Aslan says they've only been gone five minutes, and suggests Shannen call them back to the cabin if Guylaine has anything to say to Wash.

Guylaine blushes brilliantly, turning her face as red as a tomato, and denies everything.
"No, no, no, absolutely not! No, no! I was just asking, just to find out... or rather, to talk... well, out of politeness... well, you know, just to say something..."

Seeing her embarrassment, the adventurers took pity on her and didn't insist, suggesting she sit down while Shannen and Yumi prepared the promised non-alcoholic aperitif!
