En fin de matinée, l'avion de Tina a atterri à Montréal. Aslan était arrivé une bonne heure en avance, et il n'en pouvait plus d'attendre !

Lorsqu'ils se retrouvèrent enfin, il expliqua qu'il avait réservé une table dans un restaurant fantastique pour le dîner et qu'en attendant, ils allaient s'amuser. Ils commencèrent par visiter le Jardin botanique de Montréal, ou du moins l'insectarium puisque le jardin lui-même est toujours enseveli sous la neige. Inutile de dire que Tina, passionnée de photographie d'insectes, était ravie.

Ensuite, ils flânèrent devant les vitrines de la rue Ste Catherine ; passant devant une boutique de pulls, ils entrèrent et achetèrent le même, un rose pour Tina et un bleu pour Aslan. Ils riaient devant leurs "achats jumeaux", comme des enfants.

Puis ce fut l'heure d'aller au restaurant. Aslan avait réservé avec soin, se renseignant auprès du père de Franck pour trouver un restaurant de qualité qui lui permettrait d'avoir une table un peu à l'écart des autres clients (au Québec, on dirait que les restaurateurs mesurent l'espace au centimètre carré plutôt qu'au mètre carré, entassant leurs clients comme des sardines dans une boîte ; on peut à peine se déplacer entre deux rangées de chaises sans obliger les gens à se lever).

Une fois installés, ils bavardèrent un moment, puis Aslan se leva, plongea la main dans sa poche et en sortit l'écrin, qu'il ouvrit en s'agenouillant devant Tina.

"Tina, tu m'as tellement manqué cette semaine que je ne veux plus jamais qu'on se sépare. Dis-moi, veux tu bien que nous restions ensemble pendant au moins les 75 prochaines années de notre vie ?"

"Oh, mon Dieu ! Oh, mon Dieu !" répétait Tina, la voix chargée d'émotion.

 C'est d'une voix enrouée qu'elle s'est exclamée :

"Oui, oui, ouiiiiiiiiiiiii !"

"Oui, je le veux, et même pour plus de 75 ans, pour l'éternité si tu le souhaites !" 

Ils se sont levés pour s'embrasser.

"Tu en es bien sûre ?"

"J'en suis plus que sûre, j'en suis certaine"

Le serveur qui apportait le menu a cet instant s'est dit qu'il allait revenir un peu plus tard.... !

Quand ils se sont assis, Aslan glissa la bague au doigt de Tina. Elle ne pouvait détacher son regard de l'anneau.

"Le bijoutier a dit qu'on pouvait l'échanger si elle ne te plait pas", précisa-t-il

"Jamais de la vie je ne l'échangerai, parce que c'est la plus belle chose que j'aie jamais vue".

Late in the morning, Tina's plane landed in Montreal. Aslan had arrived a good hour early and was bursting with excitement!
When they finally met up, he told her he had booked a table at a fantastic restaurant for dinner and that in the meantime, they were going to have some fun. They started by visiting the Montreal Botanical Garden, or at least the insectarium, since the garden itself was buried under snow. Needless to say, Tina, a passionate insect photographer, was thrilled.
Then, they strolled past the shop windows on Sainte-Catherine Street; passing a sweater shop, they went in and bought matching sweaters, a pink one for Tina and a blue one for Aslan. They giggled at their "twin purchases," like children.

Then it was time to go to the restaurant. Aslan had made a careful reservation, consulting Franck's father to find a good restaurant where he could get a table a little apart from the other customers (in Quebec, it seems restaurateurs measure space by the square centimeter rather than the square meter, packing their customers in like sardines in a can; you can barely move between two rows of chairs without people getting up).

Once seated, they chatted for a while, then Aslan stood up, reached into his pocket, and pulled out the box, which he opened while kneeling before Tina.
"Tina, I've missed you so much this week that I never want us to be apart again. Tell me, will you allow us to stay together for at least the next 75 years of our lives?"
"Oh my God! Oh my God!" repeated Tina, her voice choked with emotion.
In a husky voice, she exclaimed:
"Yes, yes, yes... Have a good day :-)"
"Yes, I do, and even for more than 75 years, for eternity if you wish!"
They stood up to kiss.
"Are you quite sure?" he asked.
"I'm more than sure, I'm certain!"
The waiter who was bringing the menu at that moment decided he would come back a little later....!
When they sat down, Aslan slipped the ring onto Tina's finger. She couldn't take her eyes off the band.
"The jeweler said we could exchange it if you don't like it," he explained.
"Never in my life would I exchange it, because it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
