Ariane déposa rapidement un autre carton au chalet. Seule Shannen était là, absorbée par le montage de son carnet de voyage pour le numéro de janvier du magazine, dont elle doit rendre les épreuves finales lundi prochain. Tous les autres étaient partis travailler. Ariane lui tendit le carton en souriant, lui disant qu'elle ne la dérangerait plus, puis s'en alla.

Shannen ouvrit le carton et y découvrit deux grands casse-noisettes et une guirlande lumineuse.

De retour au chalet, Franck et Wash sortirent l'échelle et la boîte à outils et installèrent la guirlande.

"Ce sera agréable de faire griller des marshmallows autour du feu ce soir, à la lumière de ces guirlandes", dit Franck en tendant un clou à Wash.

"Carrément. Dommage que les trois Françaises aient trop froid pour essayer", déplore celui-ci en installant le dernier support.

"On finira bien par les convaincre, et elles ne le regretteront pas, tu verras".

"Je ne sais pas, on dirait que -15 °C, ça leur fait peur. Pourtant, bien couverts, y'a rien là...!".

Ariane quickly dropped off another box at the cabin; only Shannen was there, busy working on her travel journal for the next January issue of the magazine, for which she has to submit the final proofs by next Monday; everyone else had gone to work. Smiling, Ariane handed her the box, telling her she wouldn't be bothering her any longer, and left.

Shannen opened the box and found two large nutcrackers and a string of outdoor lights.

When they got back to the cabin, Franck and Wash got out the ladder and toolbox and put up the lights.

"It's going to be nice to roast our marshmallows around the fire in the evening with the light from these lights," said Franck.

"Definitely. But it's a shame the three French girls feel too cold to try it," Wash lamented, putting up the last support.

"We'll manage to convince them to try it, and they won't regret it, you'll see."

"I don't know, it seems like -15°C (5°F) scares them. But, all bundled up, there's nothing there...!"
